Babyshambles banned from headlining festival

Police say band could incite public disorder

The festival has now gone bust, thanks to Wilts. police. The tickets we bought as a birthday gift for our son, worthless. To quote Wilts. police: "The issue is not the act itself, it is the profile of fans that follow the act." This is outrageous - are the police claiming that all fans conform to a particular type that make them essentially a social menace? This is leaning dangerously close to facism. It's worrying that the police have 'profiled' my son (17 year old A grade A level student with no previous etc., and a damn good kid) in such a way. Does that mean that when in Wilts. (he often visits) he's going to be targeted as a danger to society, and arrested on suspicion of anything going if he wears his Babyshambles T shirt? I'll warn him to cover up when in the area, lest he get arrested. The band is not to my taste, but for the police to pre-judge each and every fan in this way is attrocious, and surely in some way contravenes civil liberties. And if they can do it to this band, they can do it to others, so take note of this precedent...
