Eagles Of Death Metal Biography

US garage rock band formed by Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme aka Carlo Von Sexron aka Baby Duck (b. Joshua Michael Homme, 17 May 1973, Palm Springs, California, USA; drums, bass, keyboards) and Jesse Hughes aka J. Devil Huge aka Boots Electric (b. 24 September 1972, South Carolina, USA; vocals, guitar, percussion). The duo originally came together to play on Homme's The Desert Sessions, Vol. III/IV, one of several ad hoc sessions released by the musician in the late 90s following the disbanding of his former band, Kyuss. Although other musicians appeared on the three tracks by the Eagles Of Death Metal, the main nucleus of the band was Homme and Hughes.

Owing to Homme's commitments with the increasingly successful Queens Of The Stone Age, the band did not reconvene until almost five years later, completing Peace Love Death Metal for Greg Werckman's AntAcidAudio label. The album's classic rock and blues feel was a far cry from both the death metal genre and the hard rock stylings of the Queens Of The Stone Age, with Hughes writing every track apart from a fun cover version of Stealers Wheel's "Stuck In The Middle With You" (retitled "Stuck In The Metal"). The 2006 follow-up, Death By Sexy, stuck close to the raunchy, good-time rock 'n' roll blueprint of the debut, and like its predecessor boasted a number of guest appearances from Homme regulars such as Mark Lanegan, Liam Lynch and Brody Dalle.
