The Last Shadow Puppets Biography

One of the genuine unexpected surprises to grace the UK music scene in 2008, the Last Shadow Puppets had been conceived the previous year by Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner (b. Alexander David Turner, 6 January 1986, Sheffield, England) and the Rascals' Miles Kane (b. Liverpool, England). Friends since Kane's previous band the Little Flames had supported the Arctic Monkeys on their 2005 summer tour, the duo embraced their joint project as an opportunity to explore different musical avenues to the guitar-led indie rock of their main bands. Recorded with producer and drummer James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco and string arranger Owen Pallett aka Final Fantasy, the resulting album was infused by the spirit of late 60s era Scott Walker and David Bowie. The Age Of The Understatement could have been a disaster, but instead was a charming, string-infused collection of melancholic pop that paid credit to the intuitive musical understanding between Kane and Turner.
