What: The Rock Werchter festival is a four-day big bands extravaganza. 2008 sees some real big guns roll into town in the form of R.E.M. and The Chemical Brothers. But aside from the bands the fact it's in Belgium should sway you to go; Belgian beer, Belgian waffles and Belgian chocolate, all a long way from the insipid lager, rancid hot dogs and McDonald's fries of home.
Tickets: €165 (£131) for weekend tickets without camping. €17 (£14) for a weekend camping pass. €75 for day tickets. Public transport is included in the price of the tickets. You can only buy four tickets per person.
