Singer tells NME.COM all about biggest dates yet

Ida Maria has announced her first full headlining tour of the UK.

The singer, who kicks off the jaunt on November 7 in Glasgow, has spoken to NME.COM to say she's on the mend after being forced out of a series of festival shows due to a throat problem.

"It was quite serious, the doctor said I was absolutely forbidden from doing anything," she explained. "I'm on the second round of antibiotics now so I'm recovering. It was deeply painful to cancel the shows, because I'd never really cancelled anything before. It was heartbreaking. I feel sorry for the people who wanted to see us play."

The singer added she fully intends to make up for enforced absences on the winter tour.

"I can't describe how excited I am about this tour," explained Maria. "Going back to loads of towns and cities where we've played support slots before. It's going to be wonderful. It will be a huge difference having the album out.

"We've been on tour with these songs for two years now, so we've done it the hard way around, but we wanted to make sure we could stand as a live band, so now we'll have the record out now it's an extra boost. It will be so much fun. I'm looking forward to getting some extra backing singers in the crowd!"

Ida Maria plays the following dates:

Glasgow Oran Mor (November 7)
Edinburgh Cabaret Voltaire (8)
Newcastle Academy 2 (9)
