Kasabian preparing 'hypnotic techno '60s road movie' album

Band speak about forthcoming third album

Kasabian have talked about their forthcoming third studio album, revealing that techno and road movies have been big influences.

The Leicester said they were feeling confident about the studio sessions, claiming the follow-up to 2006's 'Empire' will be their best effort yet.

Guitarist Serge Pizzorno said, "The music we're making is rooted in techno and dance music but it's also influenced by the 60's.

"The new stuff is sounding really hypnotic. The tunes we've done so far remind me of a really good road movie."

Pizzorno confirmed that limited-edition EP release 'Fast Fuse' will make the tracklisting, plus 'Silver Bullet'. "There's a duet on there as well which'll fuckin' blow everyone away," he said.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, singer Tom Meighan confidently added, "This is the best record we've made so far - of course, I'm always gonna say that. We've got to compete with a title like 'Empire' so we're not making it easy for ourselves."

I understand that everyone has different tastes and preferences when it comes to music, but your only judging them by their previous efforts, so hold back on the sarcastic comments and wait for the album to come out, then you can praise or bad mouth them all you like!

Even if you don't like them, you can't deny that they are one of the best live acts around in this country (aswell as Muse, sorry!) and always get the crowd going at festivals, whether their fans or not! I personally thought their first album was better than their second. They are completely different from one another, so i expect their new one is gonna be bonkers!

If they can continue to improve on what have been 2 excellent albums then this has 'album of the year' written all over it. They're one of the few bands who's music you'll listen to in 10-15-20 years time and still really appreciate it. Unlike the countless generic indie bands around at the minute. Also their live act is nothing short of phenomenal. They stole the show at Glastonbury last year and made the Arctics look second rate in comparison.

Kasabian - best album of the last 10 years... Empire - hmm... not convinced... 50/50 for me.Still the best 'current' band out there at the moment... lets hope album no. 3 blows the 2nd away!

I'm all for Kasabian pushing rock music forward a bit, but to do that you really have to write some really good tunes. Empire wasn't the most consistent record. That said, I love them. I went to see them live and it was just amazing...ly loud. They have to stop kissing up to Oasis though. They do panda a fair bit.
