Presenter says station are 'over-reacting'

Alex Zane has spoken out about his suspension from presenting the Xfm Breakfast Show.

As previously reported Zane was suspended from the radio station for a week after airing a song he allegedly wrote about rape live on air.

He told Broadcast Magazine Xfm were "over-reacting in the extreme."

Zane continued: "The over-the-top response that we've had would suggest a station being overly cautious."

He added that the radio station's decision to suspend him made it look worse than it was, as no listeners actually called in to complain.

Duncan Hayes, Zane's agent, added: "Xfm has treated its talent with blinding incompetence".

I'm sorry, but Alex Zane is not talented. XFM should never have given the guy a chance in the first place.

Agree withthe above, WORST breakfast presenter XFM ever had that I heard. Personally I moved to digital for Radio 6 when Sean Keaveny moved as I can't stand Zane

Alex Zane and talented - two phrases which should never be used in the same sentence.

I have to disagree Alex Zane is hilarious but that's not the point if XFM care so much about not offending how could they allow Ricky Gervais make jokes about disabled people during his reign.(hilarious i might add) Surely XFM haven't gone all "channel 4" on us and become shit...

How are they overreacting? He's basically saying 'sure, go ahead, rape people!'Which is technically soliciting a criminal offence.Which is actually against the law.Cock'ed.

I don't like Alex Zane...awful show. How did he get that job in the first place?

Alex Zane is a hell of a lot better than that iritating Lauren Laverne. I never heard the song but apparently it was Marc and Sunta who wrote it anyway, so in that sense Alex shouldn't have been suspended, but for airing something in such bad taste I think his suspension is justified. I am looking foward to him being back on air though, and hopefully there won't be any more inappropriateness.

I have no axe to grind against Lowe, but his show is absolutely awful. How he got a job on XFM is beyond me. He knows nothing of the music he is playing, he is a complete twat. He pops up everywhere, good looks are no excuse for the music acumen of a C*nt. Good Riddence, give his slot to Steve Merchant. I bet the Enemy are laughing their socks off....................LOL!!
