Biffy Clyro

Biffy Clyro

Biffy Clyro

Mountains

The weird thing about Biffy Clyro is that when they write songs that jump between time signatures like a frog evading a hammer, they’re more often than not utterly brilliant. But when they play it straight and radio-friendly, something gets lost in translation. ‘Mountains’ fits into the latter category. With its big, bare-chested chorus it’ll doubtless further their much-deserved march to massiveness, but it’s not quite vintage Biff.

To be fair, there are still funny time-signature changes, but they're not as obvious and weird as their older tracks. For example, there is a shift between "You can’t take that away from me" and "‘Cause you tear us apart".

One day theyll return to the magnificence that is Vertigo. Ive seen them 31 times and the first time I didnt want to see them was at Leeds Festival because they just were there to play Puzzle tracks, 57 and JustBoy. Theyre playing the Glasgow SECC in December and I for one wont be there. I'll be back when they start playing the older stuff and not concentrating on album sales. And yes, I am bitter.......

A great Boost For Biffy Clyro's way to fame . The jumps in the time signature probably wouldn't work with any other artist ... but Biffy pull it off with aplomb . Great Band , No-bodys secret for long.

cold_play, they were a secret for a long time. 2001 til 2007 no one could see past they're Killers/Strokes/Libertines albums. But all of a sudden theyve become mainstream.
