Nine In The Afternoon // Decaydance
Who said all emo was miserable? Discovered by Pete Wentz and natives of The Killers’ hometown, Las Vegas, PATD haven’t got a lot going for them (aside from several zillion album sales, that is). But beneath the eyeliner’n’tinsel lurks the beating heart of a great pop band. “Your eyes are the size of the moon/In a room where it’s nine in the afternoon” hollers Brendan Urie in probably the least unsubtle drug reference since ‘Pipe Down’. Crane an ear and you’ll also hear orchestral swoops, distant brass bands and a sly nod to ELO’s ‘Mr Blue Sky’. Further proof The Feeling are surplus to requirements.
