NME Reviews

Pharrell Williams, Julian Casablancas And Santogold

Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams

My Drive Thru

My order? An extra meaty NERD Burger please, hold the cheesy rock bits, extra Prince. There’s a special deal on? Free smooth’n’creamy Casablancas Vocal Sauce and a side order of Santo-Disco Twizzlers? Go large! What could have been a recipe worse than anything Gordon Ramsay’s ever spat in the face of a hapless sous chef on Kitchen Nightmares turns out to be a smorgasbord of fabulous flavas: Santi provides the dancefloor delectability, Pharrell the horny-as-a-mongoose funk and Jules the insouciant NYC cool, stood at the bar refusing to dance. Supersize it? You betcha.

so, we finally crossed the line, we now have indie stars doing songs that are not ON adverts, they ARE adverts... weak.

Tune! Although pairing up santogold and N.E.R.D. you might expect something more out there and radical. Maybe the inclusion of Julian was just cos Pharell is a fan, he doesnt add much to the song. Comparing the funkiness to Prince is an unfair compliment, it's a decent tune though, would give it a 7.

Great song but if pharrell ends up producing them then he better not add his annoying inputs on any songs like he does with everyone else.
