It’s the sort of news that will cause certain men between the ages of 18 and 68 to suffer heart murmurs and an almost Pavlovian reach towards their credit card. One of modern music’s most creative, inventive bands, Pink Floyd, are re-releasing all 14 studio albums in mini ‘vinyl’ wallets with a box designed by long-time art whiz Storm Thorgerson. Even the original sleeves have been miniaturised, Willy Wonka-style. From 1967’s debut, ‘The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn’ (the one inspired by the magnificent psychedelic mind of the late Syd Barrett) through their most well-known, ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’, and right through to 1994’s ‘Division Bell’ (Floyd’s rather mediocre last studio hurrah), it’s all here. The fact it’s out at Christmas is entirely coincidental but Dad will want it. And you’ll want to borrow it.
