Richard Hawley must surely be sick to the back teeth of people citing Alex Turner’s Mercury quip, especially when the first single from ‘Lady’s Bridge’ was as gorgeous as this. He might not have headlined Old Trafford, but this year belonged as much to Sheffield’s elder statesman as it did that other lot.
