Jacqueline

“Cosmic Scouse scene? I remember it well,” fondly recalls The Zutons’ Dave McCabe from the balcony of his multi-million dollar Bel Air mansion. But what of The Coral? After four Top Ten albums in five years (it says here), the Hoylake heads could be forgiven for feeling just that little bit neglected, and ‘Jacqueline’ is a reminder that if you put songwriter James Skelly in a recording studio then sparks will and often do fly. An acoustic strum in the spirit of ‘Leizah’, this is final proof that the turn-off towards Gomezville threatened by ‘The Invisible Invasion’ has been safely avoided. Good to have you back, la.
